Asia Stocks: Analysts Upgrades And Downgrades – CGV, ENS, AMCN, CSCO, AONE
Tweet As the U.S. market started Thursday’s trading on a positive note, several stocks were either upgraded or downgraded by analysts and rating agencies. Some notable stocks are discussed here. CGG Veritas (NYSE: CGV), which provides geophysical services and equipment to the oil and gas exploration and production industries in France and internationally, is upgraded to Overweight from Equal Weight by analysts at Barclays. In its fiscal 2011 third quarter, CGG reported a net income of $41million, compared to a net loss of $33 million for the same period in 2010. The company posted group revenue of $797 million for the third quarter ended 2011, compared to $656 million for the same period in 2010. Shares of CGV rose 0.13 percent, or $0.03, to trade at $23.31. Asia Stocks: NPS Pharma – Another Phase III Success
Tweet NPS Pharmaceuticals(NPSP) said Monday that 53% of patients with hypoparathyroidism responded to treatment with the company’s experimental drug NPSP558 compared to a 2% placebo response rate, meeting the primary goal of a pivotal study. Based on results from the positive study, NPS says it will seek U.S. approval of NPSP558 in 2012. NPS is expected to complete the U.S. approval filing for its first drug, Gattex as a treatment for short bowel syndrome, before the end of the year. NPS shares closed Friday at $5.61. Hypoparathyroidism is a rare endocrine disorder in which the body fails to produce enough parathyroid hormone to regulate levels of calcium and phosphorus. No replacement hormone therapy exists for hypoparathyroidism. Instead, patients are treated with large doses of oral calcium and vitamin D to reduce the severity of symptoms, although long-term use of these supplements has side effects, including kidney stones and kidney damage.
